Many seniors want to remain home, but can no longer care for themselves. That is what Canehill Residence is all about. We provide that "home" experience with 24 hour care, supervised by an RN, in a small, quiet country setting. Our greatest specialty is Love, Dignity, and Respect. Personalized Care
We understand that each individual is unique. We love to provide the enjoyment of your favorite drink, favorite tv show, favorite meal or dessert, or favorite activities. We truly strive to provide personalized care to each of our residents. Because our residences are small and accept only 3 residents each, each staff knows each resident and schedules their tasks around each individual's schedule. We also plan our menu around each individual's favorite recipes and foods!
Stages of Care
In the early stages, we may act more like a care partner, than a caregiver. Our staff is one of support, love and companionship. We are there to help with daily life, as needed, and to help enjoy life to the fullest. During the late stages, our role is that as a caregiver focusing on preserving quality of life and dignity. Our home is unique in that residents do not have to be discharged regardless of physical or mental needs. We assist residents with incontinent care, dressing, bathing, exercise, walking, and medication set up and medication reminders. Even bedridden patients benefit from ceiling installed lifts so they can recline in a favorite chair even if they can no longer transfer. Hospice is welcome so the resident can stay "at home"even during the end stage of life.
Alzheimer's Care
The small, quiet, and peaceful environment at Canehill Residence is ideal for all elderly, but especially for those facing challenges with dementia or Alzhiemer's. Large groups of people, a noisy atmosphere, changing staff, and rigid schedules increase stress. We believe that consistent staff, a schedule based around the individual's personalized needs, and a peaceful environment is the best atmosphere.
Activities and Events
We hope to increase the enjoyment of life by offering a wide variety of activites and events personalized for your loved one. Our residents enjoy the many fairs throughout the year by the surrounding towns, personal Bible Studies, music, and other activities. We encourage our residents to participate in daily tasks, whether it is planning a meal, assisting with cooking a meal, fishing on our fishing dock, picking apples in our private orchard, helping plant flowers, working in the family garden, gathering fresh eggs from the chickens, feeding the birds, shelling nuts, or sharing their photos and stories. Open Visitation
We encourage family and friends to come and visit all hours of the day, every day of the year! Come celebrate a Birthday Party, give a gift on Christmas or send your kids to Trick-or-Treat on Halloween. Maybe you have a special talent and would like to sing, play the piano or guitar, or read a poem to your loved one! Come and visit with us. We look forward to meeting with you!
